About Dr. Cook

Hi, I’m Dr. Sundar Cook—and I’m really glad you’re here.

Sometimes you can feel that something’s off—even if you can’t quite explain it. Maybe familiar patterns keep showing up: anxiety that lingers, self-doubt that’s hard to shake, or tension in your relationships that leaves you feeling disconnected. You’ve done your best to work through it on your own, but it can feel lonely—like you’re carrying something no one else quite sees. That’s where I come in: to help you understand what’s really going on and work together toward meaningful, lasting change.

In therapy, we’ll create space to slow down and really listen—not just to what’s happening now, but to the deeper layers that often go unheard. The parts of you that carry pain, confusion, or unmet longings deserve attention—not judgment. This isn’t about fixing what’s “wrong,” but about understanding what your struggles are trying to tell you. Together, we’ll make sense of your story, begin to heal what’s been held alone for too long, and help you feel more grounded in who you are.

I’ve spent nearly two decades training to do this work—including a doctorate in clinical psychology, a three-year neuropsychology fellowship at UVA, and eight years of advanced psychoanalytic training. That means I bring both depth and precision to the work we’ll do together.

I work with adults and couples navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, relationship stress, and parenting challenges. I offer evening and weekend sessions to fit your schedule, and I’m happy to start with a free, confidential phone consultation.

Sometimes one honest conversation can be the first step toward something new.
